Tiger's Eye

Tiger's Eye is a striking, chatoyant variety of quartz known for its silky luster and distinctive bands of golden to reddish-brown color. This unique shimmering effect, called chatoyancy, is caused by the parallel intergrowth of quartz crystals with altered crocidolite (a type of asbestos), which reflects light in a way that resembles a cat’s eye. With a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7, Tiger's Eye is durable and well-suited for use in jewelry, ornaments, and carvings.

Tiger's Eye is most commonly found in South Africa, which is one of the largest producers, as well as Western Australia, India, Namibia, and Thailand. The stone has been used for centuries, not only for its beauty but also for its symbolic meaning. In ancient times, it was believed to offer protection, enhance focus, and bring courage and good fortune to its wearer.
