Aventurine is a type of quartz that is most easily recognized by its sparkling, glistening appearance, known as aventurescence. This effect is caused by tiny mineral inclusions—often mica, hematite, or goethite—that reflect light and give the stone a shimmering quality. Aventurine is most commonly found in green, but it can also occur in blue, orange, red, brown, and gray shades, depending on the type of inclusions present.
On the Mohs scale of hardness, Aventurine ranges from 6.5 to 7, which makes it a fairly hard mineral suitable for carving, jewelry, and decorative items. The primary sources of Aventurine are India, which is especially known for its green varieties, as well as Brazil, Russia, and Tanzania. Aventurine has been used for centuries and is often associated with luck, prosperity, and healing in various cultural traditions
