My Story

Oh hi! I’m Olivia, a “Swiftie” since 2009, when I discovered “You Belong with Me” by Taylor Swift for the first time. Ever since then, I knew that I would be a longtime fan.

Throughout my high school and early college years, the lyrics in Taylor’s songs have always been able to resonate with me, whether I was going through my first breakup or just needed a pick-me-up after a long day of class.

In my opinion, no matter what you’re going through in life, there is a Taylor Swift song that you can relate to.

This is why she has the large fanbase that she has. Not because of the pop singles that she releases to radio, but because of the powerful, lyrical songs that she has hidden on her less “popular” albums.

Because of this connection, many people feel that they can relate to her in a lot of ways, they build a close bond with her. One of those ways of forming that close bond is through the collection of merchandise.

Her merchandise is what brings all the Swifties together, something more physical that they can have in common. Whether it is the album-themed cardigans, or the different editions of vinyl records, fans love to get and receive these items because they get to feel a closer connection to her knowing the meticulous planning that went into creating each item.

While my collection in particular isn’t the most unified in terms of items, but they all hold the same places in my heart: my favorite artist, the people who gifted them to me, and the memories that they all hold.
